My morning read the other day was a summary of Sound Affects – How Sound Shapes Our Lives, Our Wellbeing and Our Planet ¹. The title caught my eye, a topic I have never thought of. I guess most of you would not have either . And, I discovered that planets make unique sounds² (Cosmophony)

The earth it speaks it’s called geophony
For millions of years our senses adapted
To more of a symphony not a cacophony
In nature’s songs we are all captivated

Sounds of falling rain they pacifiy
Flowing water’s sounds rejuvenate
Mountain winds lift spirits high
To ocean waves we match our heart-rate

Humans create sounds that are hard to negate
Triggering stress with volume and shock
Yet beautiful sounds we can also create
A mother singing to baby, or music: classic or rock

Let’s change tack, zoom to outer space
Acoustic signals to explore
The planets sing their unique trace
For longer than our earth has, yes much more!

From the birth of stars to  black holes colliding
Magnetic fields, solar storms, and  seismic activity
The means for sounds otherworldly providing
Creating a truly amazing festivity

So what can I tell you from what I did learn?
Sound shapes our  lives yet were mainly unconscious
How will you listen and subtly discern?
In nature are sounds that will make us less anxious

P.s. take a look at the foot note number 2 below. You can hear the sounds the planets make, maybe they will be great to meditate for you too. At the very least it’s very cool to hear the sounds of other parts of our universe..
