48 years in the corporate world was good to me (allowing me to travel in comfort now.) I retired 15 months ago, in that time I have traveled about 6 times both domestic and internationally. These are my judgment free observations in airline lounges of those captives who still have to work for a living.

They’re all so different yet the same
Corporate glory is the game
To make their mark in their profession
And beat their colleagues with discretion.

Each one’s face a give away
Resulting from their working day
Faces calm or with the blues
Some they win or some they lose

The power points are in demand
The mobile’s always in their hand
The laptop also shares the stage
With two devices to engage

A long sip here and a bite there
One eye on the latest fare
A beer, a cocktail or a strong latte
Depending on the type of day

The announcement calls them to the gate
I must rush I can’t be late
But one last email I must send
My net worth I must defend

The plane takes off you draw a sigh
As soon as you arrive it’s time to fly, again,
To the next destination
That’s your calling your vocation.

Thus…..I was a corporate captive once too……….
