Cugine and Cugine (ku-gin-eh and ku-gin-y – Italian for cousins fem. and masc.) I left Australia 20 years ago this month, Bar one year, I have made an annual pilgrimage to visit family & friends. This time my cousin Maria organized a cousins reunion, I had not seen most of these people in 20 years!

Cugine and Cugini
Butcher, Builder, Barber too,
Mother, Sister, Brother true.
Finance Broker, Cabinet Maker,
Stay-at-home, the loving caretaker.
IT specialists and football stars
All of us with honest scars.

Children of those who crossed the oceans,
Who built a life with grit and devotion.
Their hands laid brick, their dreams ran deep,
Their legacy is ours to keep.

The hugs and kisses were electric
We share a blood that is magnetic
Yet five of us with prostate cancer
We just live there is no answer

So much to cach up in our lives
Of our husbands and our wives
And our children and our pets
Of those who passed and we regret

The memories will last forever
Of the afternoon we shared togther
We are never truly apart
The bond is sewn throughout our hearts
