I have been going to Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN for several years now, twice a year. The regimens of tests and scans and consultations has become part of my life, and I look forward to itI I fly in to Minneapolis, drive to Rochester then drive back, usually spending a few hours exploring Minneapolis*, then I fly home. Six months later, rinse and repeat!
Driving South East from Minneapolis
Total stillness total darkness
The mellow sounds of Tony Joe White
Compliment the serenity of the night
The headlights pierce the frigid air
The winter landscape bleak and bare
Swirling outside a ghostly mist
To get inside it does persist
With hat and scarf and gloves and coat
No cold or eerie ghouls will gloat
I travelled down this road before
And I’ll travel it some more
Not with anxious trepidation
But with eager anticipation
To those healers I commit
And my body I submit
The job is done the tests are in
There’s no disease at all within
It’s done another episode
Head back home and hit the road
*This time I got to explore Prince’s Paisley Park
