I read a book this week – The Third Perspective by Africa Brooke -Tag line Brave Expression in the Age of Intolerance It introduced the concept of Self Censorship: Africa states that “self-censorship is not merely about silencing your voice – it’s a complex interaction of societal pressures, personal insecurities, and the fear of judgment”

My Take:

A polarized world it seems we’ve got
We like to speak and speak a lot
We open our mouths to change our feet
We share most openly we like to tweet

Or, we hold back our thoughts so true
To avoid conflict that will make us blue
That pervasive social scrutiny
And differing culture’s veracity

An easy answer we won’t find
Just be authentic and be kind
Honesty and wisdom a balancing act
Tact will soften your word’s impact
