Friends, I have an update for you following my trip to Mayo Clinic last week and after my recent experience with chemotherapy. As usual I have added this story to my page that has my story in poetry and in sequence.
Bottom line: I had a series of tests and scans following my chemotherapy.
There is no cancer visible on the scans anywhere, including where it was in past scans. It was cool to see the scan side by side with the one from May. All the spots were gone!
My PSA is still not at zero, chemo knocked it down big time to 0.23, but Dr Kwon wants to see it at zero and he has put me on Zytiga for a year which he believes will do the trick. (I get lots of questions about why zero, since many men have detectable PSA, it’s because I have had my prostate gland removed so I should have no PSA.)
Also, the lesion on my kidney has shrunk and nothing needs to be done.
So, all in all – positive news! Back to Mayo in three months to be scanned again.

PS If you are interested…….. My wonderful urologist Dr Kwon recently presented at the Prostate Cancer Institute. There is video of it, a very long video, 6 Hours of it!.. At the 3 Hour : 26 Minute mark, Dr Kwon is introduced. The first 20 minutes of the video outlines his approach to treating prostate cancer.
Please do watch if: a) you just want to see who Dr Kwon is, b) you are interested in how he has been treating me, and/or C,) if you know anyone who has been recently diagnosed and is unclear as to what to do. Here is the link to the video.
