That’s me……

Congratulations! Many of you got it right. I was dressed in a cream silk suit that my mum made. She was an awesome “dressmaker” in her day. Mum had this romantic view of life, formed by years growing up in Buenos Aires in the 50s. There was, and still is this romanticism and a certain arrogance that Porteños are known for. From food, to dress, to dancing to elaborate parties, (e.g. a huge all night party when a young woman turns 15,) that shaped my mum even to this day.

I had to be the best dressed boy at the First Communion, there was no doubt of that. I still remember turning up to the day seriously sticking out like a sore thumb, dressed so differently to the skippies (what us foreigners called Australians.)

And yet it stuck. As it would turn out it would shape me for life. I learnt to love being the dressed smartly and did, and still do so, at every opportunity.

The suit still lives. I can’t quite put my finger on where it is right now but I know either mum has it or it’s with one of my kids.
