Continuing to chronicle my battle with cancer through poetry, this poem deals with one single day, May 12, 2021.

I came back to Mayo a month after my PET scan (which didn’t locate anything specific,) to have a PSMA scan which is far more sensitive. 13 years later, after three surgeries, 3 bouts of radiation, spending the bulk of those years under hormone treatment (half man) to get a 22. May 12, 2021: The Sucker Punch.

Mentally I was also dealing with a possible threatening vascular disorder, for which I would find out the diagnosis the next day. I will cover that in poem 23.

We are almost there by the way, another couple of poems and we are up to date. Thanks for coming on the journey with me, I appreciate it. And… it’s not over yet…soon……..
