A few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon a box was delivered by Amazon. I brought it inside and noticed that was addressed to José and Kimberly….which is unusual.
We opened it up and it had some random items all organic. Nuts, raisins and Lara bars to name some. We looked at each other: “did you order that?” Neither of us had and there was no indication from whence it came.
Kimberly got on chat with Amazon: yes it was for us but could give us no further details. The next day I was responding to a bunch of well wishes I had received from contacts on LinkedIn , I got a response from one of my messages.
Hi José, I kept thinking what could I do to be supportive from a distance and the only thing I could think of was to send you a sort of care package with some my favorite healthy, staple foods via Amazon. You should have received them earlier today. Apologies they were not packaged as a proper “gift”!
I cried. To think that a person I used to work with, who had moved to Mexico, and whom I had not seen in 4 years, had this level of kindness and compassion floored us.
I asked what happened to kindness. Here it is, it lives. Pass it on my friends. Thank you Kye.
